The ceremony began with a procession led by a color guard of Civil War reenactors and four bagpipers led by Lydia Boddy (with students Nolan Ferrar, Andy Hartsook & Ben Bottemiller). Mr. Caldell gave a touching speech, redicating the flag and flagpole on behalf of the American Legion, leading a salute and prayer in honor of the day and those who've died for our country. Bugler Steve Betschart played while the flag was raised, the bagpipers played "Amazing Grace", and the color guard provided a 21 gun salute. Mr. Betschart then played "Taps". Glenora Chamberlin, president of the FOHCC, spoke to thank everyone involved, especially Mr. Caldwell for his great assistance with the flag and flagpole. We want to thank Boy Scout Troop #71 for placing the flags on the veterans' graves prior to the ceremony, to Thomas and Meredith Gilbert and Sue and Ed, for helping to clean up the cemetery, and being our 'meet and greet' committee at the ceremony. Thanks to the folks from Scream at the Beach for providing the chairs. Thanks to Jane Germann for providing the programs (available to view online - see below). To everyone who came in period costume -- you all looked great! To everyone who pitched in to make this happen, we couldn't have done it without you, and we are grateful for your assistance. If we've forgotten to name anyone here or in the photo captions (see below), please let us know (families@fohcc.org), and we'll get it posted. And a big thank you to all who came. We hope you enjoyed the ceremony that you'll come again next year. We've created a video and slide show from the event, available in both DVD (region 1 - US/Canada) and VHS. The video isn't professional, but it was shot on a digital video camera, so the quality is good. The cost is $10 for each (including shipping), and can be purchased either via mail or PayPal. To order by mail, please send your check or money order to the address below. Be sure to specify what format(s) you wish to purchase, as well as quantity. To purchase by PayPal (using your credit card, debit card, or checking account), click the appropriate button(s) below. Please note - you'll be able to change the quantity after you've added it to your shopping cart.
For those unable to attend today's event, we've provided a copy of the program, in Adobe Acrobat 7 format. Please note, there were some minor last minute changes, so a few things were different than what is listed in the program. The photos have been divided into categories.
